I've never heard of tracer ammunition that didn't have the destructive power of regular ammunition.
Is it okay if we only kill them with T, instead of just APIT ammunition, sir?

This is curious isn't it? Both the Japanese and the Chinese are fully aware that tracer rounds can destroy a plane. The Japanese learned that in WWII and the Chinese learned that in the Korean war.
To me, the firing of a tracer is like the proverbial "shot across the bow." It means that the person firing the shot wants the other person to know that the round was real and if it were meant to hit, it would have.
