They usually bite you when you are awake

I've never been biten by one but have had a few jump at me to scare me away to leave them alone, it worked. Haven't seen many taratulas or horned toads since the fire-ants moved in.

If you ever see me suddenly zigzagging on the road, it's because I'm trying to hit a tarantula or a snake. Squealing breaks and backing up is definitely a snake.
