Richard Lapchick is going to give minuses to all these organizations in his next grading system.

Why is the skill level of players the deciding factor in their employment, yet not the best man for the coaching job considered fair?

Aren’t we ever going to get beyond this kind of meaningless crap? Good grief, Charlie Brown.
As far as I’m concerned, the new Eagles coach is a minority. There isn’t another head coach in the league that is from New Hampshire. It’s about time we were represented, poor us.

I noticed he didn’t get upset abut it until Arizona hired its new coach.

On the eve of another MLK Jr day, we’re still focused on the color of their skin instead of the content of their character (and coaching ability)?

The implication being the NFL is racist.
Ridiculous.

So the primary qualification a team should conisder for a coach is the skin color?
What about the sex?
Why aren’t there any women coaches?
Why no dwarves?
I swear to God, this country has gone mad and is stupid beyond all ability to describe stupidity.

This is straight out of Animal Farm. They can’t get over the fact that not enough goats were hired because there aren’t enough qualified goats. So there must be a more sinister reason.... goatism.

I hear Romeo Crennell is available. Anybody want him? How about Lovey Smith. Of all enterprises, I would have to say porofessional sports is one of the purest meritocracies going. If you're good you get hired and stay hired. If not, you don't last long. The way it ought to be.

I protest! There's not one albino, Finn, or KKK Kleagle who is a head coach in the NFL. Affirmative action for extremely white people!
To: ConservativeStatement
Also, 8 of the NFL coaches have the same first name, Mike, as does the reporter. Obviously, Mike is getting favorable treatment.
No female coaches.
No Cross gender coaches.
etc etc blah blah!!!!

This is one of the reasons the NFL sucks.

The black head coach affirmative action hiring fetish of the last few years didn’t work out so well for most of the teams who tried it. Most of those guys have been fired, and teams are returning to searching for the best talent first and foremost. Which doesn’t explain why Rex Ryan still has a job, but... :)

Mike Tomlin has worked out so well for the Steelers. Love the "Deer in the headlights - it is what it is" press conferences.
Steelers used to have a "best available athlete" policy in the draft. Now it's the "best available black athlete."
