On Monday, President Obama will preside over the grand reopening of his administration. It would be altogether fitting if he stepped to the microphone, looked down the mall, and let out a sigh... There's no indication that the president's clashes with House Republicans will end soon...
The challenge for President Obamas speech is the challenge of his second term: how to be great when the environment stinks...The president who came into office speaking in lofty terms about bipartisanship and cooperation can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP...
How should the president proceed then, if he wants to be bold? ...
Obamas only remaining option is to pulverize. Whether he succeeds in passing legislation or not, given his ambitions, his goal should be to delegitimize his opponents...
Obama has an opportunity to hasten the demise of the old order by increasing the political cost of having the GOP coalition defined by Second Amendment absolutists, climate science deniers, supporters of self-deportation and the pure no-tax wing...
The president already appears to be headed down this path. He has admitted hes not going to spend much time improving his schmoozing skills; he's going to get outside of Washington to ratchet up public pressure on Republicans...
Presidents dont usually sow discord in their inaugural addresses, though the challenge of writing a speech in which the call for compromise doesnt evaporate faster than the air out of the presidents mouth might inspire him to shake things up a bit. If it doesnt, and he tries to conjure our better angels or summon past American heroes, then it will be among the most forgettable speeches, because the next day hes going to return to pitched political battle. He has no time to waste.

Hear! Hear! Well put.
Why does Obama have to declare war on the Republicans when they give him basically anything he wants. The Republicans are the ones that need to declare war but we all know that won’t happen.
Is it true that at his inaug Monday, zero is considering not using the bible? Heard this on some news cast last week.
No. He is using the Bible from Abraham Lincoln for the public swearing in and a Bible from Martin Luthur King for the private Swearing in on Sunday.
He is just playing his necessary role to dialectically advance humanity into the predetermined dictatorship of the proletariat.
Cordially,
Why?
He’s simply a prisoner of the Iron Laws of History, or perhaps a product of the Correlation of Forces.
He recognizes that the Capitalist Roaders have no future in the Party, and that to Crush the Heads of the Running Dogs will inevitably lead along a Shining Path to a bright future.
Venceremos!
“Venceremos!”
Indeed.
“The People, united, can never be defeated!”(acc. by assorted drums, pots and pans, and most annoyingly, whistles)
I would like to see the GOP’s demise as well. That way we could have actual opposition to the dem party. For instance, in the form of the Tea Party.
The One will be using Two Bibles, MLK’s and Lincoln’s Bibles.
If these people get what they want, you don't seriously believe they will allow THAT, do you?
If the GOP is destroyed by Obama, the only tea party you will see is The National Patriotic Tea Party Following Glorious Leader Party, with 2 designated seats (out of 750) in the Supreme Congress.
Yes I do. Nature abhors a vacuum and with the establishment RINOs out of the way Conservatives will be able to concentrate on fighting the dem enemy rather than having to look over their shoulder because some RINO is preparing to stab them in the back.
The chances of a right wing third party riding to the rescue has as much chance of happening as Custer’s Bugler riding in.
Call forth a tremendous and emboldened Tea Party. The D and R parties have become the Bureaucracy Party.
Yes.....
Like Nixon, I guess Obama has an "enemies list".
BTTT.
Hell, even Conservatives have declared war on the Republican Party.
Probably won't read it - unless we send a bunch of threads - like the states basically interested in nullifying his stance on guns.
Don't forget the structure of the Dem Party - the "Progressive Party".
Drive Dems AND Progressives from the public discourse.
