Who ate the first one?

Somebody who was watching a seal dine, of course. They said, If it’s good enough for them, they’re good enough for me too.

The two best places for on the shell oysters that I know of is Acme House or Felix’s in New Orleans. My wife is trying to get me to call for a plane. LOL I guess she doesn’t want to cook dinner tonite.

WRONG answer. I've eaten at Acme and my grilled ersters were BURNT and dry!

IMHO, in New Orleans, it's Drago's grilled oysters that bring me back often. Butter, garlic, panco crumb, (and a little more stuff) spooned onto the oyster half, grilled about 1500 degrees or so, and served with crusty bread to sop with...

I do it myself on my Weber 3 burner gas grill at around 700 degrees...!

Drago’s Style Charbroiled Oysters Recipe

The Sauce:

1 Stick Unsalted Butter, very soft

1 Pinch Kosher Salt

1 tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper

1 Tbsp Minced Garlic

4 Tbsp Pecorino Romano

1 pinch Cayenne

1 pinch White Pepper

1 Spritz Lemon Juice

1 tsp Minced Italian Parsley
