President Barack Obama plans this week to present 19 separate executive orders on gun control and will press for comprehensive legislation to expand gun-purchase background checks, lawmakers made privy to the presidents agenda said Monday, according to the New York Times.
The biggest congressional fight on gun control in early 20 yearswhich also includes efforts to ban assault weapons and high-capacity clipscould be launched as soon as Wednesday, the Times reports.
But considering the presidents expected inability to get acceptance for his plan through Congress, Obama will not shy away from using executive orders for restrictions he deems necessary, according to the Times.
Those actions are expected to include limits on guns imported from overseas, pressure on federal agencies to improve sharing of mental health records, and directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct research on gun violence, according to lawmakers informed of the presidents plans, the Times reports.

From the beginning I've felt this entire dog and pony show on gun control has been nothing but a distraction perpetrated on the American people. I do believe the Obama administration would love to gut the Second Amendment, but the timing and the rush toward this doesn't make sense to me. As conservatives, we need to be very careful how we react. Obama wants us to go nuts over this so he can continue to marginalize us. I wouldn't be surpirsed if that was his intent in the first place.
Let's fight the good fight, but let's do it on our terms, not his.

"he has no such authority
he knows he has no such authority
so, whats he really trying to do?"
See pork. Representatives and senators will be offered continued federal funding to their state and local governments for voting in favor of disarming the populace. Those who vote against gun control or try to correct/resist executive orders will be denied federal funding for their local planners, police, inspectors, teachers, all: favored constituents in both political parties.
Bear in mind, police lobby organizations being a large part of gun control efforts. They have the opportunity to disarm and further control their local taxpayers for yet more revenues/debt, and they continue to get votes in favor of more pork from constituents of both parties (one political party for big federal government, the other more leaning in favor of big federal bucks for state and local governments). Business interests? Most of the manufacturing headed east and helps big government to regulate against new, small, local manufacturing starts.
It's really mostly about money for the political regulator class and more power to get more money.

"Yep- I notice the rhetoric from the Chris Matthews fans is that all Republicans are crazy- mentally ill. And the Republicans who hold office help them shape this opinion."
I don't pay government-connected television companies or their socialist sponsors to pay Chris Matthews and have never seen his face on a television.

Who wears green with the power to impeach?
Boehner on St. Patrick's Day?
To: DarthVader
I would love to believe that Reid would consider impeachment, mind you.
Just can't think of a green entity that would convince Hairy to do so.

0 is trying to end-run Reid using the EO...
