NBC Sports listed as leading sponsor for Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT) in Las Vegas as U.S. debates gun control
The show, the nation's largest event of its kind, lists NBC Sports as one of its leading sponsors; the SHOT Show's website lists NBC Sports as 'It's New Product Center Sponsor.'
There is one NBC personality Peacock suits presumably arent inviting to Las Vegas next week for the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show known as the SHOT Show Bob Costas. But while Costas wont be there, the show, the nations largest event of its kind, does list NBC Sports as one of its leading sponsors, referring to the Peacock on its website as Its New Product Center Sponsor.
The show falls smack in the middle of a national debate on gun control and a push in Washington, led by Vice President Joe Biden, to reform gun control laws. It also comes after last months tragic murder of elementary school students and teachers in Newtown, Conn
Six weeks ago, Costas called for tighter gun control during a halftime essay on NBCs Sunday Night Football, following the murder-suicide by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, who killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, before turning a gun on himself in the parking lot of Arrowhead Stadium. Belcher killed himself in front of his coach and GM. On SNF, quoting from a column written by Jason Whitlock, Costas said: Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments and bait us into embracing confrontation. . . . If Jovan Belcher didnt possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.
