Precisely, I always objected to politicians agreeing to meetings with the enemy, but never could put my finger on n why- you said what I felt in my gut- it just gives the enemy the ‘right’ to throw that back i our faces as they’re violating our second amendment rights- and the same with politicians going on news shows REPEATEDLY like CNN, msnbc etc- for ANY reason- these politicians do NOT help their cause one iota- they only damage the cause tremendously because they look like dots when the left hammers with questions that they know their opponents are NOT prepared for while ignoring all the evidence the GOP brings to the table in support of position-
The left keeps stating “Well when the constitution was written (not that they give a damn about the constitution EXCEPT when they think they have a ‘gotcha’ point to make) there were no bushmaster high capacity assault weapons” I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that- but the FACT is that when the constitution was written, they didn’t have revolvers, muskets, black powder guns, repeating rifles etc etc etc either- the constitution did NOT put restrictions on what guns are a right to own- it simply stated that owning GUNS was a right- period!
The left want us unarmed and defenseless against criminals with guns- however, IF EVERY family that loses a family member due to not having the right to bear arms sues here government for gross neglect and failure to protect after the ban goes through- I bet the government would be singing a much different tune then (either that or simply collecting ore taxes to cover all the lawsuits)
there was something like 5000 murders in NY last year- 1/2 of which were caused by guns- that means 2500 people were MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD WITHOUT ANY WAY TO PROTECT THEMSELVES in the gun free zone of the city- 2500 people had to beg for mercy fro their assailant because the law abiding citizens had no means to defend themselves, AND police did NOT show up in time to prevent the murders!
I keep hearing people say that they will never allow the government to confiscate their guns and leave them defenseless- however, NY is ALREADY a gun free zone where no one is allowed to carry legally (except in rare cases where permitted)
The only issue where the left ‘has a point’ is when they ask ‘where do criminals get their guns the majority of times’? And yes, they get them from law abiding citizens by stealing them a majority of the time- The right NEEDS top come up with a sound argument to defeat this statistic because it’s the one key issue that gun opponents keep falling back on- and they do correctly cite the fact that murders by guns have dropped in places where guns are banned- HOWEVER, what they leave out is the fact that violent crime then rises because criminals KNOW FOR CERTAIN that law abiding citizens will be unarmed
The right MUST formulate their talking points more soundly before attempting to take on the left who have formulated their talking points already- The right MUST STOP giving the left more ammunition to use against us by being unprepared when assaulted by the left on the issue of gun control. The left MUST BE MADE to PROVE where in the constitution it bans guns of ANY nature! The left MUST NOT be allowed to continue putting words into the mouths of the dead founders and framers of the constitution- the left does NOT speak for me, nor do they speak for the founders- yet they ARE getting away with their bullying tactics chem and time again because they know how to out-bully their opponents. The RIGHT MUST STOP the nonsense that yelling and screaming is ‘sinking to their level’ because we ARE LOSING the war on rights against the left by ‘being civil’ and by erroneously feeling that we are ‘rising above’ the fray by refusing to fight dirty like the left does-
