WASHINGTON President Obama plans to push Congress to move quickly in the coming months on an ambitious overhaul of the immigration system that would include a path to citizenship for most of the 11 million illegal immigrants in the country, senior administration officials and lawmakers said last week.
Mr. Obama and Senate Democrats will propose the changes in one comprehensive bill, the officials said, resisting efforts by some Republicans to break the overhaul into smaller pieces separately addressing young illegal immigrants, migrant farmworkers or highly skilled foreigners which might be easier for reluctant members of their party to accept.
The president and Democrats will also oppose measures that do not allow immigrants who gain legal status to become American citizens one day, the officials said.
Even while Mr. Obama has been focused on fiscal negotiations and gun control, overhauling immigration remains a priority for him this year, White House officials said. Top officials there have been quietly working on a broad proposal. Mr. Obama and lawmakers from both parties believe that the early months of his second term offer the best prospects for passing substantial legislation on the issue.
Mr. Obama is expected to lay out his plan in the coming weeks, perhaps in his State of the Union address early next month, administration officials said. The White House will argue that its solution for illegal immigrants is not an amnesty, as many critics insist, because it would include fines, the payment of back taxes and other hurdles for illegal immigrants who would obtain legal status, the officials said.
A bipartisan group of senators has also been meeting to write a comprehensive bill, with the goal of introducing legislation as early as March and holding a vote in the Senate before August.

Seems like Cloward and Piven move right along with 7.8% unemployment, in reality 14.4, but the worst thing is that the average length of unemployment has risen to 40 weeks from historically 20 weeks. basically unheard of numbers.
Who are the new voters?
LOL
By 2050, either muslims or Mexicans will rule this country. The battle lines will be drawn somewhere in the middle of the country, as the muzzies will own the upper Midwest and the Mexico’s sovereignty will include the Southwest. The remaining rump state of the former “America” will be what constitutes the deep South.

We bring in 1.2 million LEGAL immigrants. 25% of the adults lack even a high school diploma. We are importing hundreds of thousands of high school dropouts annually. 57% of immigrant headed households with children are on welfare.
Also, if we are not producing enough engineers, there is nothing wrong with bringing in new citizen engineers who will pass this professional approach down for generations.
I agree we should have a merit based immigration system that brings in the people we need to be competitive in the global economy. However, we need to also reduce our legal immigration numbers. We don't need 1.2 million legal immigrants a year while 23 million Americans are looking for fulltime employment.
The decade ending in 2010 was the highest number of legal, permanent immigrants in our history--13.9 million--yet we saw a loss of 400,000 jobs during the same period. Immigration has nothing to do with meeting our job requirements.
The rationale the Left and the Chamber of Commerce gives for bringing in unskilled labor is that they are doing the jobs Americans will not do. Now, it is switching to skilled, white collar workers who do work Americans can't do. This is nonsense. It is all about cheap, exploitable labor. Americans are being priced out of the labor market as the average household income drops $4,500 in the last four years.
It is an excellent video. Curtis Bowers ties things up in a neat package.
“one fast push”? That sounds like rape.
No citizenship. Make them legal residents that way they can be sent home again if necessary. Also in a way it punishes them for coming here illegally. And most importantly it punishes the dims who won’t gain new voters.
Is he including himself in that push to make citizens?
Clear, concise and to the point;
I think you’ve nailed it.
This country is so over.
Yes it is, I watched it last night. I want to see more people view it as well.
Im not as worried about Mexican immigrants
I fear a flood of Islamics, that would be hell !
just read an article at Investors Business Daily saying that Islamic Jihadists are in the Obama administration occupying top spots at the white house
Guess again.
Ever hear of “Chain Migration?”
Every new citizen has the right to import their parents, their brothers and sisters, their nieces and nephews.
According to the Census Bureau, within 10 years the average new citizen will import 2.1 new potential citizens.
That’s 11 million, plus 23 million more in ten years.
If the GOP controlled House of Representatives allows this to happen, Conservatism is dead.
Texas is gone.
The White House is gone.
Congress is gone.
Obama already delivered 2.8 million “temporary” Green Cards via “Executive Order.”
1.8 million for the DREAM Act.
1 million more, beginning March 4, for illegals who have close relatives in the USA.
New immigrant citizens vote 80% for the Democrat Party.
Conservatives are political toast if we do not stop this.
I agree. A great bloody, battle CW2 against 0dumb0 & his socialist/marxist/RAT bastard demoRATs & their partisan demoRAT MSM is the only way that our formerly great nation, the USA, will ever be retored. I hate to put it all on Texas, but IMHO, secession from Texas followed by 12-14 other Southern & Western states, is what needs to happen, sooner rather than later. I think there are a lot of northerners (mainly rural & small town) who are conservative & would refuse to go to war against fellow conservatives in the 12-14 states. The socialists could not count on the ferral yutes & gang bangers & union thugs, to go to war against conservative patriots who are willing to fight & die if necessary for their new USA republic.
Good post, but I want to update some of your numbers.
In 2011, the Census Bureau estimated non-Hispanic whites at 63.4%, not 66%.
And - immigrants and minorities vote 75% (3 to 1) for the Democrat Party, not 2 to 1.
Blacks - 13% of population - vote 90% for Democrats
Hispanics - 17% of population - vote 70% for Democrats
All Others - 6% of population - vote at least 60% for Democrats
In 2008 and 2012 immigrants and minorities actually voted more than 80% for the Democrat Party.
It's always helpful to point out that there are two distinct groups of Cuban immigrants.
The first wave began to arrive around 1960.
Virtually all of them had European ancestors.
Frankly, almost the entire Cuban professional class got up and moved - without a penny - to south Florida.
The second wave began in the late 1970’s.
At least half had African ancestors, many were criminals released from Castro's jails, and few of them had high level skills or advanced education.
By the way, Marco Rubio’s parents immigrated to Miami three years before Castro came to power.
