The blatant hypocrisy & betrayal to the cause has not been lost on his followers who have expressed shock and bewilderment that their titular leader of the “green movement” sold them out for 100 million pieces of silver. [Emphasis added.]

Gore and his family have always known the value of a dollar -- and pursued it vigorously using whatever connections they had at hand. Gore's old man served on Communist tycoon's corporate board for many years.

If it's any consolation, those "pieces of silver" are very small any more -- about 7/10's as large as a 1950 dime, according to a story I saw about inflation back in 2007, when a 1950 dime was worth a 2007 dollar (now depreciated by about 30%).

Still, even at 7 cents each, 100,000,000 "pieces" are still worth a pretty good pile -- enough to replace the Naval Observatory digs Gore used to swell around in, in the 1990's.

Correction:
Gore's old man served on Communist tycoon [Armand Hammer]'s corporate board for many years.

Addendum:
Gore got his "warmist" ideas in a sack, carried away as a political kit from the Rio Conference in 1991, where they were sold to him by Canadian Communist Maurice Strong (the organizer of the conference), who was recycling as old wine in new skins the ecological plank-set from the old Communist Party platform of a few years earlier. They were recast from a supporting argument for totalitarian government and command economies, to the central reason why we must have command economies.
