Sen. Chuck Grassley, a conservative Republican from Iowa, suggested Friday he may be open to a limited form of gun control - restricting the size of gun magazines - if that legislation does not violate the Constitutional protection of gun rights.
"I think that's a whole different issue and it can maybe be dealt with without violating the Second Amendment, but I want to see the legislation," Grassley told Iowa Public Television in an interview Friday.
But he reaffirmed his opposition to reinstating the assault weapons ban that Congress passed in 1994.
Asked if he would support limiting the capacity of gun magazines, Grassley further qualified his remark.
"I would not say at this point because Senator [Dianne] Feinstein has said her bill is going to be much different than the law she got passed in 1994 and I think I'd better wait 'til I see the legislation," he said...

My first response to these wackos is always the same: Go show me the part of the constitution which gives you more rights than any other citizen. Show me the part that says these laws shall apply only to less equal citizens, not the rarified few upon high.
Go ahead, make the argument that these weapons are not ever usable in self defense, while your security details carry them.
To sum it up: You first. If these high capacity magazines are a menace, surely you’ll ban them from your own security first. If sexy rifles are only weapons of mass killing, then obviously none of your security has them nor access to them. If fully automatic firearms serve no purpose in defense, then you’ve obviously already banned them from your own security and from police departments...
No? What, you’re no longer citizens? You’re some special more equal creature that you can ignore the law with impunity?
Or are you simply demonstrating the one true standard that liberals always follow: double standards.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is going to tell me how many rounds or what gun I am allowed to use in a gunfight to defend my life and the lives of my loved ones.
My bride of over 40 wonderful years is worth more to me than the lives of any and ALL of those damn politicians.....they can all go straight to hell.
Any guns and mags good enough for Holder to supply to the Mexican drug cartels should be OK for the citizens.

As you say, totally silent. As I am from Texas, I have been rankled by John Cornyn since his re-election in 2008. Where the hell is he — on any number of issues?
But, oh, what a show Sen Cornyn put on at the Texas Republican State Convention in Fort Worth last June! He had a very slick presentation that included a film featuring Big John Cornyn traveling about the highways and byways of Texas wearing a COWBOY hat and pressing the flesh of the commoners. (Ever try to talk to Cornyn?)
While the movie played there was a recorded country-and-western-style song about Cornyn that went something like this: “Everything will be fine, John Cornyn is on your side.” Like he was some Western hero.
But, in reality, it seems to me that Cornyn spends most of his time in Washington hiding under his desk.
As far as Grassley goes, he has been wobbly on various issues over the years. Remember: Iowa is a liberal state.
