State suspends gun carry permit for TN man who made viral video (Jim Yeager)

A Middle Tennessee firearms trainer who made an ominous and very public promise in a YouTube video that gained national attention this week, has had his handgun carry permit suspended Friday by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

James Yeager, 42, had his permit suspended based on a "material likelihood of risk of harm to the public," the department said in a statement.

Yeager told Channel 4 News he is aware of the suspension, and his attorney will handle his statements going forward.

James Yeager is a man with an impressive resume, including time as a small-town police chief and serving in security in Baghdad, but he said he spoke in anger when he made the video.

“I’m telling you, if that happens, it’s going to spark a civil war, and I’ll be glad to fire the first shot,” Yeager said in a video on his YouTube page.

He was reacting to a recent comment from Vice President Joe Biden that the Obama administration may take executive action to pass control measures.

“I’m not going to let anyone take my guns. If it goes one inch further, I’m going to start killing people,” he said in the YouTube video.

Yeager pulled the comments from YouTube after receiving backlash, and he said Thursday he didn’t mean what he said.

“I was angry when I made the video and probably should have metered my words better. I am not plotting to kill any officials or anything like that,” Yeager told Channel 4 News.

Um... If it doesn’t matter either way, shouldn’t we all be yelling from the rooftops?

Some of us would argue that it is no longer too early.

This kinda proves that the hour is later than we think.

I think the last part - where he says - “I’m going to kill people.”

probably sealed the deal for his permit...thinking it and being ready is one thing - making a public announcement is another...he should have coded his words like, “I’m for the abortion and murder of fetus.”

...then he would have been okay and nominated for some sort of Obama Civil Duty Award...

Mr. Yeager seems prone to go a bit too far.

Yeager served as police chief of the town of Big Sandy, TN, about a decade ago. The former mayor said Yeager is intelligent and a crack shot, but he thought Yeager's plan to start a SWAT team wasn't what the quiet town of 500 people really needed, so the mayor fired him.

Frankly, I think this is a reasonable call.

That said, it's probably not a bad thing for the government to be reminded that they are servants of the people; the people have rights (including Second Amendment rights), and that ultimately in the proper order of things, the people are to be feared by the government and not the other way around.

Your comment reminded me of somethng I was told once; Queen Elizabeth II has neither a passport nor a drivers license because no one in the UK has the authority to issue her one as hers is the authority that issues them to everyone else.

Free men don't ask permission anyway.

I will never apply for a concealed carry permit.

“If somebody comes to take my guns, I will shoot them.”

I don’t see what the big deal is given that several thousand Americans said and acted upon those same thoughts at Lexington and Concord in 1775.

Personally, I think this is a rope-a-dope on Yeager’s part.
And I truly hope he triumphs.

I agree. It was totally inappropriate for him to publicly declare he was going to kill people. Why would Yeager hand the feds the “bullets” they needed to take him down?

But yeah, a lot of us totally understand the anger that has now come from a system that is totally RIGGED by the radical left and the MSM propaganda arm.

OMG... I love the FPSRussia videos. I was wondering when the government would try to shut them down.

A little background:

I’m not sure how much this has to do with this story.

James Yeager has been in a little YouTube p!ssing contest lately. Someone said that while he was in the Middle East working as security he acted in a cowardly way during a firefight.

I have no opinion one way or the other. There’s a lot about it here if anyone cares: http://www.wallsofthecity.net/2012/12/james-yeager-is-a-coward.html

The point is he made the statement publicly that he would ‘break your f*cking back’ to anyone who would call him a coward to his face. He would even pay for a plane ticket so a person could fly to him and have his back broken. A one way ticket with no hotel booking necessary.

Coward or no that was a really dumb thing to record yourself saying. Really dumb.

How is it wrong to say you are willing to shed blood to protect the Constitution you took an oath to protect? Every soldier and police officer pledged to do the same. Do they lose their gun rights too?

Why would it even be necessary to say that again. Like many millions of patriotic Americans, I swore an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic". That oath did not have an expiration date. Obama and his evil, parasitic followers know that, and I'm certain it worries them. I'm happy to remind them indirectly, rather than through a direct threat that they can use to railroad another decent person. If Obama starts a second Civil War, I will not be cheering for the socialists to win, but I see no point in providing more detail regarding my attitude toward freedom, not on a public forum. I'm just praying the drug-addled sissy in our White House is either too lazy or too cowardly to press his luck and find out just how many real Americans are serious about freedom.

This action by a State Government is exactly why Americans who asks for permission (permits) from their respective Governments to purchase, possess, or carry a firearm puts the power to say “NO” or “RECIND” that same permission!

Not to mention knowing where to go to confiscate that same firearm!

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!
