when I was a municipal police officer back in the 50’s, we were referred to as “peace officers” and keeping the peace was our job with six shooter revolvers and billy clubs. We had few problems.
People and society as a whole were more respectful and disciplined then. Unfortunately there have been too many changes in our culture for the worse in the last 50 years. We closed the reform schools and psychiatric hospitals, increased entitlements to even the most undeserving, embraced the drug and electronic culture, single "parent" homes and we have become more and more isolated from family and friends.
that was also when parents stayed togther to raise the kids correctly, everyone went to church, and schools actually educated people. I remember those days.
