Tzipi Livni, who chairs the Hatnua party, slammed on Wednesday what she termed "the extremists" in her former party, the Likud.
Livni, who visited a bar in Tel Aviv, warned that a coalition between these Likud extremists and the Jewish Home would be a threat to Israel.
"Extremists are taking over our lives and if we do not stop them today - we'll end up in a situation that is dangerous for Israel," Livni said.
"These extremists are now in the Likud in the form of (Moshe) Feiglin, (Tzipi) Hotovely, (Yariv) Levin and others - they are in the same party that was once a national and liberal party, and became a nationalist party which kicked out its liberalism along with whoever represented a balanced worldview such as Dan Meridor, Benny Begin and Michael Eitan," she added.
"Together with them," said Livni, "are their natural partners - Naftali Bennett and the Jewish Home with a list nominated by extremist rabbis whose mission is to form a religious state."
"I believe it is possible to prevent the takeover of the extremists and replace this government and its head in less than two weeks," she claimed.
Livni's party has not gained the momentum she had hoped for and she has been achieving between nine and 11 seats in most polls - nowhere near the 28 she achieved when she headed Kadima in the 2009 elections.

When she says “extremist”, is she talking about people who think Jews should live in security in Israel, and that Israel should deal roughly with Muslim terrorists?
She is a mirror image of Obama.
She supports terrorists and fights
anyone who opposes terrorists and protects the homeland.
How can anyone take seriously some whose name is Zippy.
“Livni’s party has not gained the momentum she had hoped for...”
Good.
Yes. What a bunch of wack jobs. Everyone knows, we should simply commit mass suicide in installments./sarc
The polls have stabilized and show the Likud getting 35 seats - double that for nearly any other party. Habayit Yehudi should finish a strong third. A center-right coalition government of 71 looks like its in the cards. Comfortable enough to last a four year term. I expect that Netanyahu’s coalition partners will recommend him again as PM after the election later this month.
As the Ein Sof moves Bnei Yisrael closer to Torah observance in spirit as well as by the letter, Leftist idiots such as Livni will continue to become more and more irrelevant.
The Likud-Yisrael Beiteinu temporary merger PLUS the Jewish Home look to get close to 50 seats, and just a few seats from a majority.
In this case, Netanyahu would be able to go other religious parties, possibly the center party Yesh Atid, and might even bring in a Druze or Arab minister.
He would be in a very strong position, and would not have to make a lot of concessions. But, make no mistake, the man is a consummate tactician in deal-making in the context of Israel’s parliamentary system.
Zippy is flummoxed by Netanyahu’s mastery of the situation. As head of Kadima (now kaput), she had an opportunity to form a very strong, secular government, if she would have accepted being the junior partner (and foreign minister) in a Netanyahu government. This government could have been very effective in bringing resolution to the two-state “solution.”
But, she got her panties into a pinch and demanded an equal position. And, now, after being eased out of Kadima, and forming a much smaller centrist party, she is reduced to name-calling.
Zippy’s political career is reaching twilight. Thanks Eleutheria5.
Anyone who wears a kippa, eats only kosher, or observes the Sabbath is an “extremist” to these vampires.
Anyone who wears a kippa, eats only kosher, or observes the Sabbath is an “extremist” to these vampires. But of course, Arafat’s consigliere Abbas is a “partner for peace”.
