Why use subsonic ammo and a silencer (suppessor)?

Isn’t it like belt and suspenders?

No. The suppressor quiets the muzzle blast from the gun. Subsonic ammo doesn't create the sonic "crack" sound of supersonic ammo.

I know a guy that has a silencer on a 22 rifle and when he shoots a long rifle bullet you hear the click of the firing pin but you hear the report from the target when the bullet hits and you get the sonic boom from the target not the gun, just like a jet breaking the sound barrier.
