“The everyone gets a trophy mentality”.

I agree and the school system pushes it further. For example, schools push less than bright students to take honor and AP courses in high school. They don’t care that the kid can’t do that type of work.. the concept is that the school system looks “good” because the classes are diverse. Even in elementary and middle schools, the bright kids learn very quickly that hard work gets you very little. They learn to do “just a little bit more” to get an “A” rather than pushing themselves to their fullest potential. Even in gifted programs, the school will select applicants so the classes look “diverse” and “equal” (not only with races but boys vs girls). It is no wonder that kids think they are “so smart”.. they’ve been told that over and over.

Right, and some schools have just done away with some advanced classes because not enough minorities were qualified to take them, to make things “fair”.
