$16.4 trillion – that’s the latest figure for America’s massive national debt. Nearly $6 trillion of this debt was racked up in the first term of the Obama presidency – a 50 percent increase. It is horrifying to imagine what the debt will be when Obama leaves the White House in 2016, unless Congress has the willpower to stand in the way.
Meanwhile, as the world’s superpower is literally drowning in debt, President Obama is basking in the warmth of the beaches of Hawaii, at an exclusive resort way beyond the financial reach of most Americans. The president pays the cost of his own family’s accommodations, but there are a large number of associated costs which are paid from the public purse.
What is the actual cost of Obama’s lavish vacation to the American taxpayer? A staggering $7 million, according to veteran White House reporter Keith Koffler, who wrote in his blog earlier this week:
In a move that is rich in irony, President Obama agreed Tuesday night to sign an emergency deficit reduction bill that does almost nothing to rein in spending and then jetted out to Hawaii to resume his vacation at an extra cost of more than $3 million to taxpayers.
The price tag is in addition to more than $4 million that is already being spent on the Obamas’ Hawaii idyll, bringing the total cost of the excursion to well over $7 million.
The added cost was incurred because by the time the Obamas return from Hawaii – whenever that is – the president will have used Air Force One to travel to Honolulu and back twice.

They have already announced that the Secret Service personnel are covered under another budget. Presumably all regular government employees on the plane are also paid their normal salaries. Even if there were somehow 600 other people packed into the plane, they would all have to be paid an average of $300 an hour. I'm guessing that Air force One is usually not as full as a normal commercial flight. And there is no way that they have that many independent contractors on each flight.
HI to DC is a *very long* trip. It’s the equivalent of *two* transcontinental flights.
Obama is just another taker who has always relied on the state for employment. His glorified position now is no different than say our mayor of Los Angeles. They are high paid figureheads. No substance. They feed in the public trough and look for ways to grow that public service arena.
We know that there are more takers than makers in this country so until a ‘revolution’ happens, and we take back the country for the makers, expect this type of arrogance from the ‘elected’.

Can the first family celebrate the holidays in the lap of tropical luxury? Yes they can.
When President Barack Obama needed a Yuletide escape from Pennsylvania Avenue, he traded dreary talks about the fiscal cliff for breathtaking views of the Hawaiian cliffs. He directed Air Force One to the island of Oahu, where the Obamas have spent every Christmas since he was elected President.
President Obama, Michelle and their daughters stayed at two opulent homes at the exclusive Paradise Point. The family personally selected the Plantation Estate as their holiday home for the first three years.

Whether enjoying Christmas dinner or the scenic views, the first family has not been disappointed by the home’s beauty.
The $24,500 per week gated Plantation Estate, which offers first-rate security and privacy, is mere footsteps from the white sand beach of Kailua Bay. The first couple can take in breathtaking views as they share island drinks on the ocean or garden lanais, peaceful open-sided verandas.
“The views from the home are spectacular. When people look at the photographs, it looks as though the photographs are not real when, in fact, the reality is even more beautiful,” owner Glenn L. Weinberg told the Daily News.
Afterward they can swim past cascading waterfalls in the central courtyard’s lagoon-style pool pavilion, complete with a semi-secluded hot tub surrounded by Hawaiian flowers.

The Obamas stayed in a similar home a few houses over because the Plantation Estate was unavailable.
“Last year my family used it and this year, before I knew he was interested, I had rented it out,” said Weinberg.

The rental homes are within walking distance of the white sand beaches of Kailua Bay and other stunning Oahu sights.
