My neighborhood has a fair number of folks with automatic weapons. They are owned by folks here providing diplomats protection at foreign embassies ~ etc.

So far no incidents. But these guys are all highly trained.

Automatic weapons are a far different thing than ordinary firearms ~ nobody should even attempt firing one without serious training and practice on a range. One of their little problems that can actually knock people flat on their backs firing at the sky is ROTATION because of recoil. You have to learn to HOLD THE GUN DOWN ~ and that's not something everybody can do successfully. Remember those little 3 round bangers those women had at Waco? There was enough rotation to run those suckers right up the sides of the buildings to where they were firing on their own guys on assault ladders!

Gotta' be weight and strength standards for folks with automatic weapons ~ NO SMALL PEOPLE ALLOWED.

It's going to be a while yet before the recoil problem is properly addressed in a light autofire weapon. Maybe flechettes are the answer ~ might not be up to snuff for combat use, but around the 'hood, you could certainly defend your home with cornermounted Quad F's eh!

Dude's breaking in the window ~ take him out with a cloud of needles. They might break in, but they don't break out!

Ever shot a 9mm Uzi full auto? I have, a silenced one at that. It had little recoil and was so well balanced that there was no climb at all.

There's an app for that.
