Contact your members of Congress and urge them to oppose any "assault weapon" or magazine ban
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)--author of the federal "assault weapon" and "large" ammunition magazine ban of 1994-2004--has said for weeks that she will soon introduce an even more restrictive bill. Leaders in the U.S. Senate have stated that January 22 will be the first day on which new Senate legislation can be proposed, so that is the most likely date for the new, sweeping legislation to be introduced.
On Dec. 17th, Feinstein said, "I have been working with my staff for over a year on this legislation" and "It will be carefully focused." Indicating the depth of her research on the issue, she said on Dec. 21st that she had personally looked at pictures of guns in 1993, and again in 2012.
According to a Dec. 27th posting on Sen. Feinstein's website and a draft of the bill obtained by NRA-ILA, the new ban would, among other things, adopt new definitions of "assault weapon" that would affect a much larger variety of firearms, require current owners of such firearms to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act, and require forfeiture of the firearms upon the deaths of their current owners. Some of the changes in Feinstein's new bill are as follows:

I was pissed when LaPierre spoke. The NRA should not have made ANY statement following Sandy Hook. To speak implies some sort of guilt and they’re guilty of nothing. It’s analogous to triple AAA making a statement after a bus crash.. Ridiculous.
That is true.
That's why everyone on this board needs to do what the NRA suggests: contact your Senators and Representatives and let them know your thoughts.
Encourage others to do so as well.
Bitching here on FreeRepublic does nothing but preach to the choir. If you're about to pen a convincing post on FR against these anti-second amendment efforts, you may as well spend the time contacting the congress.
Every little bit helps put the pressure on.
That’s the kicker... Apparently no one. I can’t find an instance where such charges have been allowed by a court against an elected official.
Government protecting governmnet.
Exactly. Going after a sitting Rep or Senator would trip over the multiple layers of protections they’ve written for themselves over the generations.
Doesn’t mean it isn’t possible... Someone should be able to figure it out.
It’s either that or we just start shooting them...
The real question is are you ready to go to jail and be raped. Martyrdom is one thing. Longterm debasement another.
I went to their websites and sent each an email asking to protect our Second Amendment rights... bennie... do not even waste your time... but then again it will enrage his racist self... so do it! :-)
LLS
He is a racist. You’re right about that.
It wouldn’t work, because government agents would infiltrate at every level, and have sting operations set up to nab smaller groups.
You never know who the mole is. This is why resistance won’t work.
I think you misread the NRA. They are single issue. 2nd Amendment...period.
You vote to support the MRA’s agenda, then they support you. It isn’t any more complicated than that.
Resistance can work. There is a God in Heaven, and those we resist are not the Borg, and going in believing you cannot win is the surest way to lose. It’s why the party of stupid is squandering all the gains we handed it in 2010. We can push the left into remission, if God will help us, and if we refuse to listen to the Tokyo Roses that surface among us. We cannot afford to become our own worst enemies. As a matter of duty, we have no choice but to resist. Some of us are oath-bound to resist. We might as well win while we’re at it. If that takes a little extra thinking, so be it.
Yes. Whatever it takes. The Second Amendment is worth killing a man who tries to rape me in jail.
You may not INTEND to be a major negative influence in resisting tyranny, but your actions are of that genre whether you intend it or not.
If you are that convinced we are doomed, keep it to yourself. In wartime, there is no place for the doomsayer in the foxhole.
The politicians like Boehner and others who cut deals to raise taxes, keep out budgets unbalanced, refuse to cut big government etc. then end up getting the NRA endorsement.
I vote for him on that basis while the debt piles up and the train keeps rolling towards the “Fiscal Grand Canyon.”
There’s a new game on.
Out of control spending and taxes must be job.
16 TRILLION DOLLARS AND RISING NATIONAL DEBT IS UNSUSTAINABLE.....

The NRA is single issue: 2nd Amendment. When they endorse a candidate, it must be viewed through the lens of the NRA’s objective. They will support the slimiest democRAT as long as they vote the way the NRA wants them to on gun legislation. I respect that about them, that they are single issue and they do not get involved in other issues not relevent to protecting the 2nd Amendment. As you point out Jack Murtha, John Dingle, and others are cases in point. Both vote against gun control and they get endorsed by the NRA. They are/were some of the worst public servants ever elected but they voted with the NRA.
I simply will not vote for a democRAT....ever. It may not be a particular democRAT, but we all know that democRATS vote with whatever the leadership wants and their own personal beliefs be damned. That the NRA has endorsed a particular democRAT is meaningless to me. A Rat is a RAT.
