Hey guys, here is something I do know about....lol
That is what is called beam blockage. That radar site is in blacksburg Virginia and is prone to depending on what angle and setting they have it set at.
The others you see on there that pop up could be the same artifact or what is called sunset spikes which record very similarly!

Now that you mention it, I seem to recall an article about a similar occurrence of a star burst pattern.
Think it was around the Ar-La-Tex area.
May have been here on FR, probably two or three years ago.
Same weird pattern.

That would explain why it was said the beams are easier to see at sunset. Sun spikes. Makes perfect sense. I’ve caught a few of the direction beam from Sky Harbor to NE on the doppler radar.
