Well see how long this pledge lasts. As part of his New Years resolutions, conservative talk host Glenn Beck returned from the holidays with a new policy: no one can mention President Obama anymore on his show.
Anybody who brings him up, besides me, is fired, Beck said of the new policy. Astonished by the severity, co-host Stu Burguiere asked if staffers could get by with just mentioning that the president said, to which Beck said it would be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Instead choosing to refer to the president as that man or that guy, Beck explained the very loose definition of what counts as mentioning the president in his mind. After much back and forth with his colleagues, Beck said:
You can allude to him. You can play Joe Biden. But I dont want to hear the mans voice. I dont want to hear him. I dont want to know about him. You want that information? Go any place else. Theres thousands of outlets, you can have all the information you want. I am not talking about that man.
Burguiere joked that Obama is now like the villainous Harry Potter character Voldemort in that the novels protagonists referred to the evil wizard as he who shall not be named.
Why summons that? Beck said. Youre just asking for trouble. Why bring that on? Dont speak his name.

What about Hussein?
He who shall not be named.
ROTFL.
Glenn has adopted the policy at my house.
DrO does not permit the Marxist’s voice in our house. He is muted at all times and the channel is changed whenever his ugly face appears on the screen.
It’s been this way for months.
The Communist!
How about ‘Barry’ or ‘Virginia Sunahara’s Stand-In’?
I don’t know if this is Beck’s point, but I applaud it as an escape hatch from the trap of personifying the opposition. Obama is just one man. The problem, which among other things is socialism, is much bigger, almost planetary. It’s nearly as much in the Republican Party as the White House, which itself is chockfull of people who aren’t Obama. Obama isn’t even the worst example, not by a long shot. Edwards or Gore would have been worse, probably.
We’ve gotten more use out of the remote in the past 4 years than ever before-with the same guidelines.
Why not just call him Zer0. We don’t call him Zer0 for nothing.
I have not seen Obama on TV since the election or have muted him on every occasion and changed the channel til he has finished.
I dont mention the schmuck’s name in my house either..I either refer to him as The Marxist, The Commie big eared freak..or Adolf..in fact, whenever I hear his voice on TV I immediately change the channel..just the sight of him makes me physically ill
Same here. As long as we can still turn off the telescreen comrades...
Only "months"? In my house it has been that way for years.
My house too!
Beck gets more inane with every appearance. He’s his own worst enemy.
Looks like Beck will still cut and run from Obama Eligibility
I enjoyed Glenn’s TV show, and was disappointed when I first tuned into his radio program. I now enjoy it. Everyone has to kick back once in a while, especially in these stressful times. Glenn, Pat and Stu all have a great sense of humor.
We should make some creative anagrams....
I’m calling it Zerocare instead of Obamacare....because that’s exactly what we’ll get, and it was never about healthcare anyway.
That’s the unvarnished truth!
We each have a remote!
