A leading figure in Lebanese intelligence said Wednesday that the only enemy of his country is Israel. According to the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation, Abbas Ibrahim, director-general of the General Security Department, said, “Lebanon’s one and only enemy is Israel.”
Ibrahim also predicted that the crisis in Syria would last a long time, but added, “The humanitarian condition of the refugees arriving in Lebanon from Syria prevents us from closing the border with the neighboring country.”
“We either act in a humane manner or become racist,” he remarked.
But Ibrahim made sure to emphasize who he saw a the real threat to his country. “Whoever has lost the plot should remember to focus his attention south of the border,” the general security chief declared, in an apparent reference to Israel.
Ibrahim stated that there are some 160,000 registered Syrian refugees and some 13,000 Palestinian refugees, who have also fled Syria.

Not sure, but that verse doesn't seem all too encouraging.

And yet the racist content of that second statement completely escapes him.

But Israel, daring to continue to exist... now THAT is an affront to Lebanon!!
You better watch your back, Abbas .... where Shi’ite and Sunni Arabs live together there is always the real probably that one will decide the other isn’t Muslim enough .... and then ‘I kill you ... I kill you ... for Allah’.
Did Ibrahim say why Israel is their enemy?
Did he say what Israel has done to them to make them an enemy/
Has Israel invaded or bombed them? Has Israel even threatened them/
Or is it just the fact that he hates Jews that makes Israel his enemy?
People need to understand the way lebanese power is split up. The head of the army and the officers in the army are largely christian, this includes army intelligence which is by far the largest intelligence agency in lebanon.
The sunnis have top positions in the internal security forces and the shiites have top positions in the general security intelligence. The shiites will always speak in favour of syria and against israel as they are puppets of hezbollah. Recall the lebanese army were having tea with israeli commanders on the field in lebanon in the 2006 war. Lebanon is not one entity but multiple entities each with different outlooks on who their friends and enemies are.
