GOP U.S. Reps. Paul Ryan and Reid Ribble joined all three Dems in the states House delegation to support legislation to avoid the fiscal cliff.
Republicans Sean Duffy, Tom Petri and Jim Sensenbrenner voted against the deal, which passed the House 257-167.

Personally, I’ve had it with the roll-over Republicans.
Perfect description!
Henry Blodget is a democrat who was convicted of securities fraud when he was at Merrill Lynch and was permanently banned from Wall Street. Is he a RINO hero, now?
I hate singling out individual Republicans. This is one issue the Republican Party didn’t have the guts or they deliberately wanted the bill to pass-Boehner in particular. I suspect the Republicans looked at who they could sacrifice to vote “Yea” to get just enough to pass it.
I’ve had enough of them.
How DARE you show some perspective! Don’t you realize that the only reactions allowed here are “KNEEJERK”?
There sometimes seems to be a competition called “Who Hates the Republicans More?” The contest is a tight one between conservative purists and Demonrat activists.
I am not thrilled with the 42 to 1 ratio of tax hikes vs spending cuts....but IF the Republicans can seriously hold their mettle on the debt ceiling, this may be the best we can do for now. We still only have half of one third of the federal apparatus.
McConnell rammed the deal through in exchange for a promise by Reid not to go nuclear on the filibuster.
And who really thinks Reid will keep his promise on the filibuster?
Especially when it comes time for the debt ceiling and sequestration “negotiations”?
How many times have I heard that over the last six months? You want to lay odds on them caving in on the debt ceiling?
permenent?
The Republicans always vote for raising the debt ceiling. now why would you think they would do that now.
Not ‘thrilled’ with the 42-1 ratio, why how perfectly magnanimous of you. (pssst, you should be pissed)
My memory of Paul will always be the stepford Sub-gate handout with Romney two blocks from Santorum hdqtrs in Wauwatosa.
Rick was going to win Wisconsin and Johnson, Priebus, Ryan and the gang couldn’t have that! So they endorsed Mittens and handed out free subs to seal the deal.
Romnuts breezed in for one or two fundraising stops in WI. Santorum shook hands, criss crossed the state and bowled at every alley from Green Bay to Rice Lake.
The people noticed and were going to give him his due reward..until the GOP-E stepped in.
I lost all respect for them then and will not support either their party or their unelectable RINO candidates ever again.
This mess is going to take a radical fix. Though I don't like the Paulistanians, I voted for Ron Paul in the caucuses, because he was far enough out there to maybe get a fix to this mess without bullets flying. But the degree of difference between the Ds, and most Rs is close enough that nothing is really changing. And it is going to be an ugly-ass end game to all this. It might be 5 years from now, it might be 10, but it is going to be ugly, and there are going to be people dying. Don't know who, or why. Might be riots in urban areas, it might be prepper areas revolting. The nice thing about an 0bama election is it will happen sooner. I don't want it all to collapse when I am 75 years old. I want to be of an able bodied age when it all falls apart, so I can take care of myself.
Oh I think we saw pictures of Ryan’s “colors” during his college years
Define “caving”.
are the GOP on message? Is there one message or 101 messages?
there is one message so far, the sequester and the cuts happen in two months.
The Democrats no longer have the middle class as a hostage.
all they have is debt, deficit, cuts, and ????
any absolutist public point made now takes that politician out of the negotiations.
Were the Reagan tax cuts permanent?
There is no debt limit since it always gets raised.
Ryan Statement on Remaining Debt Challenge
House GOP passes legislation to prevent tax increases
January 1, 2013 WASHINGTONToday, the House of Representatives voted to prevent across-the-board tax increases on the American people, again taking action to avert the short-term fiscal cliff. Upon passage of the legislation, Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin issued the following statement:
Well never get our debt under control unless we tackle its main drivers: too little economic growth and too much spending. Without presidential leadership, it will be difficult to forge bipartisan solutions to our debt and economic challenges.
Today, I joined my colleagues in the House to protect as many Americans as possible from a tax increase. We also provided certainty by making the lower tax rates permanent. The House has already passed legislation to prevent tax increases for every American family, and it is unfortunate that President Obama insisted on taking more from hardworking taxpayers. Despite my concerns with other provisions in the bill, I commend my colleagues for limiting the damage as much as possible.
The American people chose divided government. As elected officials, we have a duty to apply our principles to the realities of governing. And we must exercise prudence. We must weigh the benefits and the costs of actionand of inaction. In H.R. 8, there are clearly provisions that I oppose. But the question remains: Will the American people be better off if this law passes relative to the alternative? In the final analysis, the answer is undoubtedly yes. I came to Congress to make tough decisionsnot to run away from them.
Now, we must return our attention to the real problem: out-of-control spending. Washingtons reckless spending drives the debt. And this debt is hurting the economy today. Unless we get at the heart of the problem, Americans will face a debt crisisone that will threaten our most vulnerable in particular. It is our responsibility to prevent such a crisis.
LOL. Permanent? Only insanity is permanent in D.C. A future Congress filled with enough Statists can un-permanent these tax rates. Ryan and many other GOP seem to believe foremost in State power.
All so called Conservatives should be asked first if they believe government is a necessary evil. If they cringe at the word evil then you know they are NO conservative.
Any one who thinks the GOP did anything good with this fiasco is a fool.
There is a 100% certainty that the GOP will cave on the debt limit. There is absolutely no way they will do anything meaningful. Only a fool would believe otherwise.
Boehner and many other Rep members are very weak men with no believe in Liberty. They deserve nothing but our utter contempt.
And your alternate recommendation that could stand the light of day is......???
