The House of Representatives late Tuesday easily approved emergency bipartisan legislation sparing all but a sliver of Americas richest from sharp income tax hikes -- while setting up another fiscal cliff confrontation in a matter of weeks.
Lawmakers voted 257-167 to send the compromise to President Barack Obama to sign into law. Eighty-five Republicans and 172 Democrats backed the bill, which had sailed through the Senate by a lopsided 89-8 margin shortly after 2 a.m. Opposition comprised 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats.
Republican House Speaker John Boehner voted in favor of the deal, as did House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, his party's failed vice presidential candidate. But Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy voted against it.

That’s a big /S since the house will be weaker as of this year.
“All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.”
“Motion to reconsider” announced.... not a word said, Its Over.
They'll simply double the debt ceiling, with the promise that Obama only quadruples spending... and call it a "win for America".
Blind people could see it coming. Deef folks could hear it.

Long live the TEA Party.
The last time I remember seeing this kind of rout of the majority party
was when Reagan steamrolled Tip Oneil and the democratic congress.
Reagan achieved his victories by going directly to the people.
This hapless GOP just collapsed, just as this country will, in the near
future.
This was a rout of the GOP.
.
85 Republicans that Boehner could have stopped from voting aye, but didn’t.
I’ve stood up for him but he has to go now. He’s costing us too many elections.
If a candidate carries the (R) brand, it might as well be the mark of the beast.
major fuq...i made the daring move and turned over to msnbc....Luke Russert was on and it was interesting...he said while the GOPussies lost on this because ayatollah obama had the leverage there is three months of trench warfare ahead and the next big fight is the debt limit where the GOPussies have the leverage and they will take the fight there...
i for one don’t believe the GOPussies have any desire to fight but it was interesting to hear that take from msnbc...
“Up next: debt ceiling. Baraq will taunt them like a cat with a dying mouse..”
...and then raise the ceiling through unilateral decree anyway. They’ve already been floating the idea that he has the authority to do so anyway. But I think he’d much rather play with the gop for awhile.
Pelosi and the democrat House gave us Obamacare
next for the new democrat House
1. Gun control
2. Amnesty for illegals
Yes, the Leaderships decision to sacrifce the conservatives in the caucus to the RINOs is inexplicable
It’s totally splainable. The beltway old dogs want the K Street cashola to keep rolling in. Barry gives them cover to continue taking bribes and spending.
Now the GOP has gun control to black mail us with. Vote for us or the marxists grab the guns, etc. Damn them.
I heard the cuts on those making below $450,000 r permanent? Please correct me if I heard wrong.
That, or the other two boxes.
Yup, noticed that too.
Hope there's a way to get those bastards names with the ones who voted yea.
Now Obummer is about to come out and gloat.
