Now you see, that’s another reason why we beat the redcoats.
Got at em fresh off the boats with jet lag :)
Jet lag?
I’m missing a lot here. Keep it up and I’ll also call it a night!
ROTFL.
“thats another reason why we beat the redcoats”
Don’t look at me with that Revolutionary death-by-Pugs stare, we were still in Eire at the time. LOL.
This matter has been looked into at some length.
The bulk of the Army was away having fun in India at the time.
Having read the Autobiographies of several of the Officers involved ,i personally believe there was a sympathy with the Revolution amongst a large number of the troops.
Hence the numbers who stayed behind afterwards.
There where so many elementary mistakes made during the war, it stands out a mile .eg sentries not posted.
There where some over enthusiastic jerks involved, but rest assured they where all castigated by the Population and eventually the Government.
There was a plus point as far as the UK was concerned, it was a useful exercise before the wars against ‘Shorty’.
The experiences from both America and India where brought to bare against ‘Shorty’ leading to his butt kicking at Waterloo. Blucher showed the first signs of strangeness by arriving ‘politely late’.
The Taxes that started the whole event where squeezed out of the population here, as a form of sulk by the ‘authorities’.
Plus, ‘our’ ships where old, the USN ships where new and made of White Oak.
Operating on your own turf is always a ‘home game’ advantage, this has been born out repeatedly through history.
