Seriously. They shoot that way because of the natural tendency to pull the gun to the side with the trigger pull.
A person is taller than they are wide, so pulling the gun up a little gives the perp a better chance of hitting his intended victim, verses pulling the shot off to one side.

I’ve heard/read that shooting that way increases the likelihood of the empty case not ejecting properly and jamming the gun, but have never seen proof one way or the other.

I understand the mechanics. It was meant in some humor. I do, however, have a question. If the object is to improve accuracy why so many bystanders get hit? Anyway I thought it was funny but I’m strange.
