Not a wise thing. Americans have/are purchasing millions of rounds of ammo and the hardware to go with it.
God forbid we have another civil war in this country, but confiscation would almost certainly spark that powder keg.
At the present, Americans still have allot to lose. That variable changes when folks see their freedom disappear.
The second amendment is our guarantee of freedom and
the control of our government. But it is not that
alone, it constituted the alarm system devised by
our founders to tell us when our freedoms are under
attack.
