BTW, the purpose of the IUD is to prevent the fertilized egg from implanting on the uterine wall, effectively denying the developing fetus the nutrition to continue.
RU-486 is taken to cause any implanted embryo to be dumped--essentially a very early 1st trimester abortion. Perhaps the person taking it isn't sure they are pregnant, but the intent is to terminate any pregnancy which may be present.
If we are so fond of saying "Life begins at conception." I suppose the only quandry is when conception occurs.
In my belief, that is the moment the egg is fertilized and becomes an embryo.
Interfering with the natural course of events from there is not in keeping with Catholic Doctrine.
Catholics are not against all birth control, just that which kills an embryo which otherwise would have continued to develop.
FRiend, now we are touching on the gist of religious freedom. Believe as you will, but do not force me to act against MY beliefs.
I am not seeking to impose my beliefs on you, only to explain them. Kindly do not force, nor support forcing your beliefs on me. This is between me and The Creator, and you cannot force me to act against that. The First Amendment was penned to guarantee me that Right. So either stand for the Right or not, but If I do not have that Right to worship as I choose, free from the State imposing upon me for not acting contrary to MY beliefs, you don't have that Right either, whatever you believe.
We are all in this together, whether we hold the same beliefs or not.
But birth control pills/devices are not a Christian issue because they have nothing to do with Christianity. If Obama makes a company cover birth control pills, it’s not a Christian issue. It has nothing to do with whether a person accepts Christ as their Savior. It’s more of a Catholic issue.
