Thanks A, it’s a relief to *not* see anyone on the thread claiming that the US joined WWI (1917) because of the sinking of the Lusitania (1915). Wilson ran for 1916 reelection on “he kept us out of war” but almost miraculously the US raised a huge force, trained it, and shipped it over to Europe in record time, not many months after the election — almost as if a lot of prep work had been done. The pretext was the Zimmerman Telegram.
