Yes, but them being liable translates to the state being liable (since they were acting on behalf of the state) and hence the taxpayers foot the bill while the party responsible for the decision walks away scott free. Given civil service protections, doubt they would even lose their job.

That may well be. And in the short term there will be negatives for the state. However, it’s time we force the issue of the risk to them of taking away our second amendment rights. I believe they are truly liable for the deaths of those children and adults. It the attitude had been different and there were teachers, administrators, or others in the school that were armed and the public was well aware of that we all know the outcome would have been different. Sure it’s “our” taxes but they already have that and if we take more of that away from them and continue to force the issue maybe we can get across to them that “shall not be infringed” was there for a reason. I would hope that the general public would begin to realize that the state/fed is irresponsible by not allowing defense.
