Yeah. I made the mistake of thinking that I wasn’t marrying my in-laws. Did not turn out well in the long run....but hey sometimes love is blind and stupid.

since you start with “I had....” I am assuming that you left that bit of hell.

Well, to join the club, I’ll admit that I too married into the family from hell. And they exhibited the very same behavior a lot of people on this thread do. Domineering control freaks that money meant everything.

My wife’s real parents had died, but her family ‘took control’ of her life in every aspect you can imagine. When we met, it did not take long to realize what was up. And rather I stuck it out. And it was not easy.

What I learned over of our life together would make people puke. The things that girl endured were the stuff of Hollywood horror. And she quite literally had the scars to prove it.

The story did not have a happy ending here either, but for a different reason. I did manage to break her away from the hell she endured, And in her final years, she knew that she had been controlled and she had been used as a whipping post.

She died of liver cancer at 28. But she died free.

And of course, they blamed me for ‘giving her cancer’ and ‘killing her’. And trust me, you do NOT want to know what happened at the funeral. But I will say they kept up the control freak bs.

So when I see this merry band of control freaks on these threads, it gives me flashbacks. And I literally pray for any children they may come in contact with. Because I too lived in technicolor what the mentality leads to.
