A heavyset Hispanic woman seen by five witnesses pacing and mumbling to herself pushes a helpless man in front of an oncoming Flushing-bound No. 7 train in Queens. She was caught on tape while fleeing the crime scene: police. A MAN WAITING for an approaching No. 7 train in Queens died a gruesome death Thursday night when a young woman darted up behind the helpless straphanger and pushed him onto the tracks, police said.
The unidentified victim was crushed by the first and second cars of the Flushing-bound train about 8 p.m, as his murderer hustled down the stairs of the elevated station at the 40th St./Lowery St. stop in Sunnyside and fled in an unknown direction on Queens Blvd.
The suspect, described by police as a heavyset Hispanic woman in her 20s, was still at large as of early Friday.

Nothing worse than an assault train..quick someone call Feinstein and tell her to write up a bill
Never say never. It just requires open eyes and awareness of what we are doing.
Was it Sotomayor?
(They coulda got the age wrong)...
As a business owner all I can say is if I had the same setup in my building as the subway is OSHA would be all over my behind to install guard rails, cages, and laser trips to keep employees safe.
Guess it must be nice to be exempt from fines and lawsuits like those too...
“Wise” Latinas would be exempt.
>How did those cowardly spectators let her get away? Didnt want to get involved? Unbelievable.
My first thought exactly. An unarmed nutcase just did her deed and ran away while these cowards watched. Pathetic.
They should be forever marked so good people know to let them suffer when they need the help of others.
Don’t let Sotomayor decide whether to take up this case or not. All I’m sayin.
The time has come for background checks on people who want to ride the subway!
Question:
Here in DC, there is about an 18 to 24” space under the Metro boarding platform that a quick-witted person who fell/was pushed onto the tracks could roll into to try to avoid being crushed by the train.
Do similar spaces exist underneath NYC subway platforms?
Not that it would have mattered much in this case, since the attack occurred at literally the very last moment.
Personally, I think it was premeditated murder.
While pacing and mumbling may be signs of a distrubed person, they could also be someone trying to work up the determination to act by going over (to themselves) the reasons why this person should die. The truth teller for me is the very quick departure and the multiple exits from the station.
The Mono Rail at Disney has them.
Was it an "assault" train....because "assault" is way worse.
Yes, let's get Sotomayor involved. She IS a wise Latina so she is "go to" for wisdom.
The train cannot have more than 10 cars.
Yes. At that station the third rail is opposite the platform, so one could get under the platform without hazard. Also, one can lie flat between the rails and the train can pass above you.
Multiple exits....once the perp reached the mezzanine, she could have taken any of four different stairways to street level or crossed to the other side and ascended to the Manhattan bound platform.
