Oh I dunno. My son joined BSA Tiger Cubs (6-7 y.o.) this year. Aside from the two-adult rule cited earlier the Tiger Cub handbook covers many things no longer taught in schools or exemplified in popular culture. Things such as honoring and participating in family activies, responsibilities and accoutability, the values of hard work, honesty, faith in God and patriotism. One of his recent homework assignements was devoted to honesty and making and keeping promises. Hardly the stuff of New Deal appropration politics or Free-S entitlement estate planning.
The Girl Scouts changed what they teach and what values they promote.
