These people like Eternal are actually lazy, selfish and some just have big ego’s. They can’t cut it within the real political system, so, much like a cult leader, they find some followers and pretend they stand for something serious. Many just don’t want to accept that 99% of politics in a relatively stable democratic system is a long, slow, awful slog. Most change comes so slowly you don’t even know it’s happening - sometimes even when you’re winning. The last time the right had a great leader on a national level was Reagan - and then, just as now, there were people like Eternal who called themselves conservatives and refused to participate in the GOP because Reagan wasn’t conservative enough. There are always deadenders like this. They are useless in the fight against the left, the best you can do is minimize any damage they might cause by pointing out how silly they are.
