I read history. A lot. One of the frustrating things about history is reading how a successful, prosperous and militarily strong nation will deliberately chose to squander every advantage they had on the road to ruin. Assyria, Rome, Byzantium, the Ottoman Empire, China, the European states in 1914, the British Empire; all of them worked hard for success only to throw it away.

What’s more frustrating than that is to watch it happening to the country you live in, knowing full well exactly what is happening, and not being able to do a damn thing to stop it. I guess that’s why the old parable of the Golden Goose is so compelling. It’s what we do.

Corrupt leaders in every era know that most people prefer to be ignorant and lazy and will seek that if they can find a way to reap the benefit of someone else’s sweat and tears..In every society a rare few are born with exceptional intelligence and another rare few occupy the other end of the continuum..Most people are very average, give or take a little. Don’t go looking in academia for the bright ones...Most are not there. In fact, I am betting that the geniuses among us probably have not been discovered due to political correctness. America is committing suicide and those in power now will not be remembered when all of this shakes out. I do firmly believe that something like concentration camps are being planned and every time I hear old Harry Reid accuse someone else of what he dreams of, I cringe and pray harder for my nation.
