That judge isn't too bright. Condemns the Marine, admonishing him about "peace" then turns around and confirms the very thing he just denied. Acknowledges that the act was intended to punish terrorists and extremists - at a Mosque.

20 years is too much. This wasn’t a hate crime as much as it was mis-directed grieving. This Marine needs peer-to-peer counseling, probation, and to pay for damages.
A peaceful, forgiving people, church, and religion would also ask for the recommendations I’ve outlined above.
I wonder what these Muslims asked for?
(I had a bad friend once get an arson charge and he didn’t do any jail time.)
When Christian Churches are burned down, what kind of sentences are handed down? How does this burning of a prayer rug compare?
My suspicion is this sentence was harsh to appease Muslims.
How can 20 years be outrageous when Linn plead Guilty and accepted the 20 year sentence?
