Cult? No - it's just a coffee shop chain that has perfected the fast-food approach. It's the McDonalds of coffee houses, with a marketing and expansion plan that manages to combine elements of the Golden Arches, the "big box" grocery and hardware stores and "trendiness".

Their product has never appealed to me. It's mediocre at best, but they sure know how to sell it.

I recall a couple of years ago they closed hundreds of stores.

The closest to us got hit now we are 50 mi. from the nearest aside from the food court type in Targets and Kroger.
