The leader of Navy SEAL Team Four, one of the most senior commanders in the elite world of special operations, has died after apparently committing suicide in Afghanistan, it was reported today.
Commander John W Price, 42, was found dead in his quarters with a gunshot wound on Saturday - just three days before Christmas.
Cmdr Price was based in Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Virginia, near Norfolk and had been in the military for more than 23 years.
He leaves behind a wife, Stephanie and a nine-year-old daughter Jillian, who both live in Virginia Beach.
The commander is originally from Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
He commanded six platoons, two-dozen SEAL commandos and numerous support staff, deployed in Uruzgan Province, where they were conducting counter-terrorism missions and training police in remote parts of the country.

Obamacide?
So it would appear
Unless he was having trouble with his marriage I doubt suicide too.
Many years ago, a cop told me a lot of suicides are actually murders but done so well they can’t catch the killer.
Yep, a headline composed by an illiterate.
I know someone who hanged himself outside his mother's home, which was an act that I am sure absolutely destroyed her when she found his body the next morning...yet he absolutely loved his mother. He had the most beautiful daughter, who he also absolutely loved, and he was one of those really happy people. However he was hit with some deep depression that he hid from those who knew him, and I think it got so bad that he went into that dark spiral (where your mind starts feeding on itself, and you end up believing you are useless/worthless etc). He went to the place he knew as home, and killed himself. Before that I used to think suicide is for weak cowards, but after that (even though I still strongly believe it is the cowardly way out) I came to recognize deep depression as something that needs to be immediately taken care of. Immediately. Whether it is you getting depressed, or a loved one. Because the moment that 'dark spiral' (my name for it based on the people I've seen) hits, the chances of getting out of it are the same as getting out of a plane in a flat spin. Possible, but difficult.
In my occupation I have seen people worth hundreds of millions of Euros kill themselves (and in some particularly gruesome ways) when they lose a couple hundred million. Yes, losing 200 million Euro is a mess, but you are still worth over 400 million, and you have a fabulous family. Why kill yourself? The dark spiral. The moment you start reinforcing your negative thoughts, and start seeing yourself as a burden to your family, the fact that you have a loving caring family actually works against you. Deep depression is something that, once identified, needs to be immediately taken care of because, and I kid you not, someone in a deep depression is not normal at the time. Logic is not working, and the person is more or less in an insane state of mind. Such a person will kill him or her self, even when logic dictates otherwise. At that moment that person is having abnormal thought patterns/processes, and it doesn't matter whether they have a loving family, a great occupation, a healthy bank account, a couple of hours to Thanksgiving ...the person left rationality and logic and is heading straight to destroying himself unless something can be immediately done.
That is how Navy SEALS shoot themselves, or rich financial titans slit their wrists or throw themselves in front of trains, and loving sons and dotting fathers hang themselves in the backyard.
Prayers for his family and shipmates.
At age 42 he has served at least 11 years in and out of combat on a regular rotation. We have put a special burden on our Special Forces who have had little relief in this war, because of their special skills. We need more of them and more support for them. We simply have asked too much of too few.
I have a son in SF in Afghanistan..and I am sure I will hear more about the tragedy..I doubt that it will be anything that will further fuel conspiracy theories.
something don’t seem right about this.
Can you explain when something is right about suicide?
Too many SEALs have been dying lately.
Exactly especially under Present OBummer

Family named. Cause of death cited. Prayers for family.

Bookmark to self: Quick military conclusion “leaked,” while apparently case still under investigation. No circumstantial details; in fact, the contrary. Maybe, maybe not. Follow up.
Maybe it wasn’t suicide.. but the purges have begun..
You KNOW I am having a very hard time with this. Was this Commander on a daily cocktail? Did he know something? WHO leaked this and why? Whose purpose does it serve? Was he being ordered to head up what he knew would be a suicide mission like the helo that was shot down?
It is part of the Son of Perdition’s policy!
dont believe it either...from the bravest & best to even become a seal, I smell a cover up ,this is how slime from chicago operate, sooner we’re out of the mid east shit hole the better
Sounds like NCIS inquiries are indicated.
Prayers for My Brother In Arms.. the family he leaves behind. Prayers also for his units, this will be a heavy load for them to carry. The Passion of The Christ and any novel by Frank Peretti gives insight to the evil voices desiring to prevail over the good souls of our protectors. Another spiritual battle, lost and another protector lost as well. Damn them for creating these situations of perpetually being cut off from the reminders that life is good. The smile of your child, the touch of your wife or husband. These are all like small tastes of the greater good.
Add this to the “war dead” list under Obama’s watch. The Washington Post et al gave up counting once Bush left the White House. Why was that?
PS They tallied non-combat deaths for awhile before they even had a “war” dead name to list.
