WOR (710 AM) is clearing the decks for a Rush-and-Sean landing. Long-time station mainstay Dr. Joy Browne was dismissed Thursday, along with former Gov. David Paterson and syndicated host Mike Huckabee, as WORs new management prepares to roll out a radically different prime-time lineup in 2013. In a move that had been rumored for months but didnt happen until five days before Christmas, the station also laid off a number of behind-the-scenes workers Thursday. A statement from Buckley Broadcasting, WORs outgoing owner, said: We thank our employees for their service over the years and wish them all the best. We are providing our workers with a generous severance package, and Clear Channel will absorb a number of the station staff." While nothing has been officially announced, the new Clear Channel lineup at some point in 2013 is expected to feature Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, who have dominated city talk radio as the afternoon lineup on rival WABC (770 AM) since Hannity joined the station in 1998. WOR was purchased in August by Clear Channel, the radio giant that also owns Premiere, the company that syndicates both Limbaugh and Hannity. Limbaugh and Hannity are the first- and second-most popular talk show hosts in the country, and it is widely expected Clear Channel will shift them to the companys own station.

That’s one way to look at it.
Another way to look at it was the station gave them both the gift of time.
That would seem to be the explanation for this change. I'd say they were lucky to be kept on as long as they were. Maybe their contracts make it easier to do this at the end of the year.
Now that's funny right there.
I thought Gomer Huckleberry was supposed to clean Rush’s clock? [snicker]
Maybe Gomer winds up at WABC...Cumulus...if Rush goes to WOR etc
Well, poor old John Gambling’s head is probably on the block. Maybe he can go to Fox and replace crazy Curtis Sliwa in the morning or over to WABC and replace horrible Geraldo.
A year or so ago they dumped Steve Malzberg to go more to the middle left with Gov. Patterson. I guess that didn’t work out for them.
huckster managed to foist akin upon the Senate race and cause a forfeit to the psycho rat so it is heartwarming to see him removed.
My new favorite radio talk show is Red Eye Radio. I like them even better than Rush or Hannity. We need these two taking on the ignorant masses, they would finally understand why socialism doesn’t work.
They're available locally...I've had enough of the 'flying saucer' alternative.
Think I'll give them a try.
After Mr. Buckley passed away, his daughter took over and made the station lib, and then it went the way of all lib stations. Steve Malzberg was let go in favor of Gov. Patterson, and now that the station has been sold, I hope Clear Channel hires Steve back.
Rush has been really funny as of late and has done an excellent job of putting it all in perspective (including Newtown And Boehner’s Plan B). He had Barack-O-Claus LOL Christmas songs on Friday!
“Maybe he can go to Fox and replace crazy Curtis Sliwa”
Can’t believe I missed the fact that Curtis was on the air somewhere. I’d thought his brand of Noo Yawk ran out of gas.
Maybe interesting fact. Jean Shepherd of “A Christmas Story” was a talk show host on WOR for many years.
He’s at 970 AM in NYC - I don’t know the call letters. He’s on from about 5am to 10am. Without a co-host he’s completely out of control.
Did you know he dumped his wife (with whom he has a kid) for another woman who is having his next child???!!!
Supertalk Mississippi has replaced the 3-6 slot with Schnitt. After Schnittâs attack upon the NRA and some of his liberal spoutings, I can see he won’t be long for this market. I thought he sucked big time yesterday and deserved to be shut down here for what he was saying. His libtard rant may fly in the NE but here he is going to make some die hard enemies.
Me, too, I haven’t been back to C 2 C since I found the Red Eye Radio guys. I find my self trying to stay awake so I don’t miss something.
