I think Matt Damon fights the landowners who don’t want fracking. He actually plays the good guy. We have fraking in Pennsylvania and it is great!!! The landowners are nuts not to take advantage of it. My parents do and it is a wonderful source of income for them.
I think that is how the movie begins. After a time, Mr. Damon's character "sees the light" and turns against his employer in support of "saving the land."
This is a marketing piece in favor of continued reliance upon Arab-sourced petroleum products. "Don't set your farmland on fire, buy your oil from the nice, tolerant Arabs!"
If the trailers are any indications of the movie's content, he plays an "evil oil company sales executive" who begins to question what he is doing, becomes a "good guy" and quits fracking.
Damon is the the normal guy working for an evil oil company. Krasinski is a down-home farmer who shows him the error of his ways.
Damon is a hard-core lefty who would NEVER portray an oil company in a positive light. Krasinski also appears to be a tree-hugger. The UAE money is just the icing on the propaganda cake.
