Gov. Cuomo is pushing for New York to adopt, by one measure, the toughest gun controls in the nationand he may have help from across the aisle to do it, the Daily News has learned.
Cuomo is in talks with legislative leaders to expand the states ban on assault weapons and to outlaw gun magazines containing more than seven bullets, sources said. That would be more restrictive than the toughest limits now on the bookslaws in New York, Massachusetts, Hawaii and the District of Columbia permitting magazines that allow for the rapid fire of as many as 10 bullets.
In a major shift, Republicans in the state Senatewho have long thwarted new gun controlsare now open to expanding the states assault weapon ban, although they have not yet signaled what new limits they would accept, sources said.

Well for my part, I hate homophones. I look at other languages, especially Asian ones of the far east, and I wonder how English got away with the few homophones it has. Sad thing is, in older versions of English, the words today that are homophonic were most likely not so in the past . . .
The en-bloc clip for the M1 Garand holds 8 rounds. I don’t know how this could be changed.
That a-hole Casey made a 180 degree statement on gun control yesterday.Freakin traitors get elected for another 6 years and then change platforms. He should be deported to new York.
If they pass this silly 7 rounds law, I hope EVERY GUN MANUFACTURER refuses to make a NY-specific version. Them libtards voted for it, and they should have what they voted for.
“Gov. Cuomo is pushing for New York to adopt, by one measure, the toughest gun controls in the nation...”
Yes, because it isn’t like NYS already has some of those.
Maybe they can get Conn. to help. They have some of the toughest gun control laws.
From 10 to 7 to 1 to ZERO rounds, which is the real goal of socialist politicians.
IIRC, you still can’t hunt with semi-auto’s in PA.
But that’s OK, western PA is the home of the original “bitter clingers” Oblammo referred to.
What’s “Fast Eddie” up to these days?
Yes and not only that....
But the Governor should be concentrating on devices with Tubes / Barrels of Steel, but not Firearms. Instead he should be opening the doors for Fracking and finding a tubing supplier ( their is one in Ohio ) for Rigs to lower his unemployment, make NY boom and Energy Self Sufficent while PA kick's his States metaphorical behind as they fill the States coffers with new dollars from their Fracking boom from the same formation!
The hubris of this man knows no bounds...
Cuomo is like the wind sock at your local airport. He just goes with the wind. He followed what Clinton told him to do at HUD. (Missing millions) He followed the Tea Party with the 2% tax cap (left the problem to locals) followed the gay marriage, and now he is blowing toward what he sees as popular gun grabbing.
As a bonus, with any luck, 1-2 months of the intervening time will be in Florida.
Well, the clip, with careful cutting/heating/bending can be made to hold a lesser amount -- even one round. I have an old American Rifleman magazine that shows how to build one for competition. But it depends on whether the clip is defined as a magazine. I suppose that's why the bill will be crafted to say seven rather than eight ---
Aw yes, the Barney Fife gun control law. The libs are loonies.
I can't imagine in a million years that that is correct, although I don't know for sure. Put it this way, I would be floored if that was true. Of course, I am never sure exactly what the politicians mean by the phrase "semi-automatic", but usually the women mean guns and rifles that look "military" or otherwise "mean" in some way.
Oh no!, I thought I had that proofread until I saw the two instead of too after I had it posted. I let it go, and now see what happens. Anal retentive people like yourself picked up on it. My life is completely ruined (sob, sniff).
Apparently the same as if we would have voted for Mitt. Hopefully the conservatives keep pushing the agenda in the states like they have been. Then maybe the GOP on the national level will get with the program.
