I am old, not in good physical shape, and unable, with medical conditions to fight off most any attacker, man or woman, who may choose to attack me because the need drug money, or because they are on bath salts or something else.
If you take away my gun, Rep. Lee, who will be responsible to defend me when I cannot defend myself. I would not win in a machete fight, as all the dead in Rwanda have shown, I would not win in a knife fight, as those children in China have shown, I would not win in a fist fight, since I am unlikely to land a single blow.
Will You, Ms. Lee, be responsible for me? Will you be there to see that I am not a victim?
Or will you be, like the police, the historian of my death, who makes an announcement to the few people who would care (due to my lack of fame)?
Why must we be reduced to the lowest common denominator for victim status?
Why can we not be all elevated to equality of force with the evil that confronts us?
My .45 will do just that, arthritis and all, overweight girth, and slow pace, notwithstanding.
The only reason you fear guns, Ms. Lee, is because it is the one tool that allows me my primary civil right of self-defense. You only wish to help me to control me, and for no other reason.
Ms. Lee, you may promptly go to hell.
