Although he once said banning so-called assault weapons fell under the category of issues best left to the states, Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown told The Republican / MassLive.com in an exclusive interview Wednesday that he now supports federal action.
Brown cited the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting that killed 26 people, including 20 children, as the turning point in his stance on the issue.
"What happened in Newtown where those children were subject to that level of violence is beyond my comprehension. As a state legislator in Massachusetts I supported an assault weapons ban thinking other states would follow suit. But unfortunately, they have not and innocent people are being killed," Brown said. "As a result, I support a federal assault weapons ban, perhaps like the legislation we have in Massachusetts."
Earlier in the day, Democratic U.S. Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren, who defeated Brown in November's election, reiterated her support of a federal ban as well as increased measures to strengthen the background check process.

Where does this moron think State Rights trump the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT guaranteed rights (given to us by our creator) in the US Constitution? Can a state institute a restriction of the press? Didn’t think so.

They must not teach English in Mass. What about “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” does this RINO not understand? There are 2 clauses in the 2nd Amendment separated by a coma. The Militia portion in no way changes our right to arms and that right SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.
The ONLY legal way around this is a constitutional amendment but we have all allowed the Nazis in the Federal government to chip away at “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”
The 2nd Amendment could read: “Guns are inherently dangerous and a threat to government, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” and once again the first statement does not negate the 2nd statement.
Only an affirmative action failure OR a person bent on our destruction to get EVEN for HIS people does not understand the 2nd Amendment.
How about a federal ban on assault printing presses and speech?

You seem to have it right regarding Fast and Furious but writing “I’d feel a lot better if they went after the illegal gun-running operations that bring guns of all kinds including assault weapons into the country” has me questioning what you are saying. When you refer to “assault weapons” do you speak of such in the same manner as the MSM and that you are against the importation of semi-auto rifles modeled after their military counterparts?
