What’s to stop people from reporting their guns as lost or stolen? There will be an enormous black market for weapons. Guns will be as easy to purchase as pot.

Exactly. It does not stop the criminals now and most cannot just walk into a gun store and purchase a firearm. I’ve heard of guys selling brand new autos out of the trunk of a car in NYC. Cash and no paperwork.

The crooks use full autos not the one shot/squeeze again crap they try to pass off as military weapons the gun stores sell.

They will use up a lot of postage sending out letters and then will start wasting agents time by trying to track own and locate all weapons.

Likely the same reason you haven't yet reported yours lost or stolen to your local law enforcement agency.........
