That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

If I don't have a right to own high-capacity arms, I can't consent to have the government own high-capacity arms, either.

There will be no compromise, grand or otherwise, on that point.

That is the crux of the arguement that many people just don’t get. A government, any government, with a monopoly on violence, in time, will employ it on any person, persons, organizations and/or groups of people deemed to be “enemies of the state”.

What’s coming down the road will be policies that are nothing more than arrogance, envy and elitist conceit cloaked in altruism.
