Thanks to our lovely courts, you can't do that against his will unless he has committed a crime.
I agree. My SIL is an adult slow learner who also has mental illness. We had to jump thru hoops to get guardianship and prove she was not capable of caring for herself. Lanza sounds as if he was high functioning (took college courses, drove a car), it would have been very difficult for a parent to get a judge to declare him as an adult incapable of taking care of himself.
