Not sure that I totally believe this story; it smells to me like possible disinformation fed from administration insiders.
This is damage control cuz of that revealing NYT article that made it clear now the actual POTUS might well be Vallerie Jarrett.
So they trundle out this B.S.:
“Oh, yeah, she was quite an insider, sure, BUT NOW the POTUS role is totally and completely, 100% back to the non-Iranian guy who was all elected, and stuff, yup. Yeah, NOW everything is on the up and up...!”
Uh-huh...
