I recently had a long and depressing discussion with my daughter about these matters and the same issues apply here as they did with the GOP primaries/election. Reduce the issues to their core and toss aside all the fluff and what are you left with?

A public that has been intentionally ‘educated’ to ignore history and embrace the promises of the ‘experts’.

Whether it’s supposed ‘conservatives’ ignoring the history of their candidates or the clusterfreak in the Mid East, where millenia of war/oppression/conflict were the standard and not the exception; the core issue is the same. People willingly refuse to learn the lessons of history and intentional magical thinking ensures the predictable outcome. To further reduce it to a concise point, people want to be lied to and oppressed. They want to eat crap because they enjoy the taste.

And to anyone that thinks I am full of it, I offer this.

If people did not want to be lied to, they would challenge the lies rather than roll over and make excuses for the liars. If people did not want to be oppressed, they would fight back against their oppressors and put some more effort in the game than random whining on the internet and returning to their regularly scheduled lives. If they wanted to be free, they would act like free people and not be publicly proud of their Stockholm Syndrome.

The comparison has often been made to a battered woman thinking she can change her abuser ‘with just one more chance’.

“We can make Muslims love us if we just...’
“If we hadn’t gone into (insert M.E. country here) they wouldn’t...’
‘If we write sternly worded letters to the congressmen we will unwaiveringly vote for regardless of what they do, they will...”

And my personal favorite...
“We have to vote for liar X even though we oppose everything they ever said/did because if we don’t, we will end up with another guy who we oppose everything they ever said or did).

When you reduce the arguments to their core issues, that’s the result.

Ergo, if people do not want a thing, they should not empower a thing. And as always I defy anyone to disprove the logic. Since the logic cannot be disproved, the simple truth is the same.

THEY WANT THEM.

Words of denial and rationalizations are meaningless in the face of demonstrated facts to the contrary.

You described the GOP to a “T.”

This is why we need a third party and if we don’t get one, IT’S OVER! You can kiss America and its freedom away for good.
