After Sandy, civilization lasted all of 3 days in NJ, and I live in a solid GOP bastion. Everyone could stay warm and fed for a few days but the surprise was that there was barely any gas. I knew to fill up right before storm hit, but not everyone was as prepared. Few guns were drawn at gas station lines. Again, we are not talking Newark or Camden, but solid Red county.
Point being, it wouldn't even take a week for total anarchy and a month for 90% casualties in urban areas
