Transcript of speech: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/president-obamas-speech-at-prayer-vigil-for-newtown-shooting-victims-full-transcript/2012/12/16/f764bf8a-47dd-11e2-ad54-580638ede391_story.html

Summary lines: “Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom? ... If there’s even one step we can take to save another child ... then surely we have an obligation to try.”
Of course, arming teachers won’t be considered, now matter how consistent it is with our Constitution, nor how effective when tried.

Price of freedom? Hardly. More the price of stupidity and the failure of courage. Being free means being able to defend your life and the lives of those you hold dear. Take that away, and you are not free. Therefore, gun-free zones are anti-freedom zones, places where we are forced to rely on a distant and apathetic politburo to ensure our safety, and that is just plain stupid.
